CIPMO doesn't work on Cooperation & Development anymore, since it was decided to focus the energies on some issues, which suit best to the mission of the Cente.

CESVI and CIPMO in the Palestinian Occupied Territories
In 1996 the Non-Governmental Organization CESVI (the "Institute for Cooperation and Development") and the Center for Peace in the Middle East (CIPMO) signed an agreement in order to work together for the development of the Palestinian people.
The partnership started during the transitional period towards the establishment of the Palestinian National Authority. All the activities have been developed in cooperation with Palestinian non-governmental organizations.
Since the explosion of the Second Intifada (October 2000), emergency projects were initiated, so as to give some relief to the population, which is affected by a serious economic and social crisis.
Numerous projects were realized in the north of the West Bank, because people in this region are the most neglected.
The CESVI/CIPMO partnership has an office in Tulkarem, where a local and international staff works from inside the Occupied Territories. In this way effective activity can be led, thanks to good comprehension of people’s needs, rapid intervention and local connections in the Palestinian society.
About CESVI: CESVI is an independent lay association, which works for world solidarity. It was founded in 1985 in Bergamo, where its headquarters still are. It intervenes in every continent to deal with every type of emergency or to work in reconstruction; however, its main activity is fighting poverty, not with charity, but by development of plans that make use of local resources and mobilize of the population. In the values that guide CESVI, the moral principle of human solidarity and the ideal of social justice are transformed into humanitarian aid and development, reinforcing an affirmation of universal human rights.
CESVI believes strongly that helping the underprivileged in developing countries, or those in difficulty due to war, natural calamities and environmental disasters, does not help only those who suffer, but contributes also to the well-being of all of us on the planet, our “common home” to be looked after for future generations.
In Italy and Europe, CESVI carries out educational programs to develop global solidarity awareness, to increase the pool of donors and volunteers, and to influence private companies and public institutions to support cooperation projects for development.
The activity of CESVI is supported through funding from different donors (the European Union, the Italian Government, International Agencies, private donors and foundations, etc.). The 65,000 Italians who support CESVI receive monthly CESVI news by the magazine Cooperando. All supporters also receive the certified balance at their home address. In 2000 CESVI was the first association awarded the Balance Sheet Oscar, the main Italian award for financial transparency for companies and public and private organizations.
From the January 1st to the December 31st 2003, the total cost of CESVI initiatives in poor countries amounted to a total of 13,537,988 Euro; 1,440,993 people were their primary beneficiaries; 1,547 people were employed as local staff, backed by 130 expatriates. The 2003 headquarters staff consisted of 29 persons, supported by hundreds of volunteers in Italy. During 2003, CESVI collected 3,608,727 Euro via private donations.
